Course Overview
The General Nursing and midwifery (GNM) program is a 3-year diploma course, followed by a 6-month internship (depending on the applicable curriculum and regulatory guidelines). it prepares students to become professional nurse capable of providing comprehensive healthcare in hospitals, community health centers,and other healthcare settings.
The course emphasizes patient care, clinical nursing skills, maternal and child health, emergency care, mental health, and community healthcare.
Eligibility
• Must have passed 10+2 ( Intermediate) from a recognized board.
• Students meeting the current eligibility criteria prescribed by the nursing authorities and BUHS can apply.
• Minimum age: 17 years as of 31 December of the admission year.
• Candidates must be medically fit.
Course Duration
• 3 years of academic and clinical training

1. Anatomy and Physiology
Study of the structure and functions of the human body, incluing major organs and body system.
2. Fundamentals of Nursing
Introduction to nursing principles,patient care techniques, hygiene, infection control, vital signs, and nursing ethics.
3. Medical-Surgical Nursing
Care of patients suffering from medical and surgical conditions brfore and after treatment or surgery.
4. Community Health Nursing
Healthcare services provided to individuals, families, and communities, including disease prevention and health promotion.
5. Child Health Nursing ( Pediatric Nursing )
Care of infants, children, and adolescents, including growth, development, immunization, and management of childhood illnesses.
6. Midwifery and Obstrtrical Nursing
care of pregnant women before, during ,and after childbirth, including newborn care and family planning.
7. Mental Health Nursing
Assessment and care of patients with psychological and psychiatric disorders.
8. Nutrition
Balanced diet, nutritional assessment, therapeutic diets, and nutrition for different age groups.
9. Pharmacolony
Study of medicines, drug classifications, dosage calculations, safe adminitretion of medications and side effects.
10. Microbiology
Study of microorganisms, infections, sterilization, and infection prevention .
11. psychology
Understanting human bahavior, emotions, personality, learning, and communication.
12. sociology
Study of society, culture, family systems, social health issues, and community relationships.
13. First Aid and Emergency Nursing
Immediate care during accidents, trauma, cardiac emergencies, burns,poisioning,and disaster situations.
14. Nursing Research and Statistics
Basic research methods, Data colllection, interpretation, and evidence-based nursing practice.
15. Nursing Administration and management
Hospital administration, leadership, teamwork, nursing supervision, documentation, and quality management.
